The U.S. Department of Agriculture will invest over $16 million to extend broadband service to rural parts of Mississippi that are unserved and underserved. The investment is part of the ReConnect Pilot Program through the CARES Act. The grant will be used by Tallahatchie Valley Electric Power Association to build a fiber-to-the-premises network that reaches 2,082 people, 331 farms, 32 businesses, a post office and six fire stations. The work will occur in Yalobusha, Tallahatchie, Panola, Grenada and Quitman counties.
