The Tallahassee, Fla., City Commission has received an update on its citywide fiber-optic network study. City staff has been working with Florida State University and Florida A&M University to determine the feasibility of a citywide fiber-optic network. The group has been tasked with studying the economic development and accessibility as it relates to the project. The accessibility side of the study examines Internet accessibility for Tallahassee residents within the context of closing the digital divide.' The City Commission will receive their next update on Dec. 4, and there are plans to continue the study into 2020.
