Hargray Communications is planning to extend high-speed Internet service into Gadsden, Alabama. The plan comes after South Carolina-based Hargray acquired Cable One of Anniston. Officials with Hargray said the high-speed Internet will be made available to businesses first. Residential services may be offered in the future if it makes sense, according to the communications firm. Rich Knoll, director of commercial and business sales for Hargray Communications, expects to provide service to 1,000 businesses in the city by the end of next year. The company hopes to reach an additional 5,000 businesses in the area in the future.
