The coronavirus pandemic has exposed the need for improved broadband in infrastructure in Alabama. The pandemic has forced students, businesses and workers around the state to grapple with the challenges of using slow or non-existent Internet services. However, help is on the way, according to Hu Meena, CEO of C Spire. The state is receiving assistance from the federal ReConnect program, grant money from the Alabama Broadband Accessibility Fund and initiatives launched by the Alabama Rural Broadband Coalition. Meena says C Spire is also working to expand its fiber-optic network to more parts of the state.
