Canada's Minister of Rural Economic Development Bernadette Jordan says the government will provide $151 million to help connect Nunavut, Canada to Greenland with a fiber-optic line. The Government of Nunavut has already promised $30 million to help complete the project. The cable will run for 1,700 kilometers from Nuuk, Greenland to Iqaluit, Nunavut and on to an existing link between Greenland and Milton, Newfoundland. The cable is expected to be installed by 2022 and Internet access should be available by 2023.
