On Dec. 3, 2020, Dr. Narinder S. Kapany, one of the scientists that developed fiber-optics, passed away. The cause of Dr. Kapany's death was not revealed. In 1954, Dr. Kapany along with Harold Hopkins, demonstrated how glass fibers could be bundled together and be connected end to end. It was the birth of the fiber-optic technology. Kapany was also instrumental in making sure fiber-optics remained a topic of research by governments and corporations. This work ensured the technology would advance and become what it is today.
