Nokia has received a contract from Open Fiber, Italy’s wholesale infrastructure operator, to provide optical transport technology for the expansion of Italy's fiber-to-the-home Ultra-BroadBand (UBB) network. Nokia will help build the UBB network that will connect over 6,000 cities throughout Italy. The network will feature speeds of up to 1Gb/s. Construction of the network is part of the Italian Gigabit Society 2025 plan.
