Openreach will use Nokia's fiber-optic products to expand its fiber-optic network in response to growing consumer demand. Openreach has set a goal of delivering high-speed broadband to 20 million homes throughout the UK by 2020. The two companies will use GPON and XGS-PON fiber access technologies to extend Openreach’s network to 4.5 million premises by the end of March 2021. The network will also deliver up to 10Gb/s symmetrical broadband speeds in the future.
