Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. has successfully mass produced FLUOROCUIT, fluororesin-based flexible printed circuits (FPCs). The devices are capable of a high flexibility and low transmission loss in the millimeter-wave band. The company says they are ideal for 5G communication applications. Fluororesins are characterized by low permittivity and dielectric dissipation factor compared to those of liquid crystal polymers, which have started to be used for high-frequency circuits. Fluororesins are widely used as circuit materials due to their excellent characteristics in the high-frequency band.
