Telus Communications has submitted an application for funding to extend fiber-optic connections to Sooke and Port Renfrew in British Columbia, Canada. Telus is applying for funding under the Connecting British Columbia Program and the CRTC Broadband Fund. Currently, the two cities suffer from poor or non-existent high-speed Internet access. Officials say the expansion of fiber-optic access in the region would also benefit cell phone communications as well.
