In the last fiscal year, the Department of Agriculture’s Rural Utilities Service (RUS) says it delivered nearly $10 billion worth of infrastructure projects, including broadband deployments, for rural communities. Chad Rupe, administrator for Rural Utilities Service, says the RUS averaged $900 million per month in investments, grants and loans to utilities. Gary Bolton, president and CEO of FBA, says the RUS ReConnect Loan and Grant Program has been especially helpful at providing loans and grants to thousands of Internet service providers. Rupe said, "The ReConnect Program is having a positive impact on rural communities. Through the program, RUS has invested in 83 infrastructure projects in 42 states, to date."
