New York City has reached an agreement with Verizon that will expand broadband connections to households in the city. Verizon will expand its FiOS footprint to 500,000 more consumers in New York City. Broadband connection priority will be given to the least-connected communities in the city. Verizon will also provide broadband connections for all low-income and NYCHA residential buildings. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio says the agreement will help close the digital divide in the city.
